Why a plain blur isn't enough
A light blur can be reversed, and small pixel blocks can be matched against the font the text was typed in, which is what tools like Depix do. So Pixelate and Blur here replace the pixels in the file with large blocks and random noise, and Blur only then smooths them; the original pixels never reach the file. For passwords, keys and ID numbers, Solid is still the safer choice.
Pick the right mode
Solid covers the area with black. It's free and the right choice for passwords, API keys and ID numbers. Pixelate and Blur are part of Pro and look calmer on names and e-mails in product screenshots. The mode you pick applies to new boxes; change an existing box in its own row of the list.
Crop and resize after redacting
Boxes are attached to the screenshot itself, so you can still change the crop, size or format and they stay in place. Every way of exporting applies them: saving one file, saving all, the ZIP and copying to the clipboard.
